FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM IN COLLECTIVE NOUNS PAGE - function of different types of collectives - in addition to spureous nature I see in some "documented" words, (more when I can drag out the resources, there is a major flaw between referring to a gaggle of geese and a deck of cards.
The only definition I know of concerning the fundamentals of a gaggle is "at least seven" according to the authors of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. But a DECK of cards isn't a blind collective. A deck requires <depending on the game or, for that matter the program described on the cards> a distinct set of specific cards with a standard set of features, etc. |
