Roaming

Roaming is a term that defines the switching of a mobile end-user's device from one fixed antenna to another. Mobile phone users typically 'roam' when driving on the road when their ongoing conversation is transferred from one antenna to the next when the first antenna's signal becomes too weak, hopefully without interrupting the call.

Roaming support is essential for provinding uninterupted connectivity for users that are moving. Roaming is supported for mobile phones, but isn't yet available for Wi-Fi users. Wi-Fi connections get interrupted and have to be re-established when switching from one base antenna to the next.
