Ranunculales

The Ranunculales are an order of flowering plants, which belong among the basal eudicots. Newer systems include the following families:

• Family Ranunculaceae (buttercup[?] family)
• Family Berberidaceae[?] (barberry[?] family)
• Family Menispermaceae[?] (monseed[?] family)
• Family Lardizabalaceae[?]
• Family Circaeasteraceae[?]
• Family Eupteleaceae[?]
• Family Papaveraceae[?] (poppy family)
• Family Fumariaceae
• Family Pteridophyllaceae[?]

A few other families may be separated out from the Ranunculaceae. In the older Cronquist system, the Eupteleaceae were excluded, and the Papaveraceae and Fumariaceae (including the Pteridophyllaceae) were treated as a separate order Papaverales.
