Penthouse is a men's magazine founded by Bob Guccione[?], combining urban lifestyle articles and soft core pornographic pictorials.

Penthouse falls somewhere in between Playboy and Hustler in terms of explicitness (and respectability). Generally, the pictorials show female genitalia and simulated sex, but not penetration or male genitalia.
