UN Security Council Resolution : Notable UN Security Council Resolutions

A United Nations Security Council Resolution is voted on by the fifteen members of the UN Security Council. It is passed if nine or more members vote for the resolution, and it isn't vetoed by any of the five permanent members: People's Republic of China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, and United States.

There have been two major wars authorized by the Security Council; the 1950 Korean War, and the 1991 Gulf War.
