Protected areas of Victoria (Australia) : National Parks (Victoria, Australia)

Victoria is the smallest mainland state in Australia. It contains a staggering 1966 separate Protected Areas with a total land area of 3,378,021 hectares (14.84% of the state’s area). 36 of these are National parks, totalling 2,577,435 hectares (11.32% of the state’s area).

The Parks are managed by Parks Victoria, a state government organisation. There are also many smaller state areas which are subject to commercial activity such as logging.
