LeRoy Wilton Homer Jr.

LeRoy Wilton Homer Jr. (???? - September 11, 2001), pilot. He grew up on Long Island in New York where he always dreamed of flying. In 1987 he graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with the rank of captain. He served as a C-141[?] pilot from 1988 to 1995 including flying during the Persian Gulf War. In 1999 he achieved the rank of major.

He married on May 24, 1998 and his first child was born in late 2000.

Homer Jr. died at 36 in the crash of United Airlines flight 93 in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack. He was the co-pilot for the flight. He was posthumously awarded an honorary membership in the historic Tuskegee Airmen.

He is survived by his wife, Melodie, daughter, Laurel, along with his mother, seven sisters, brother, and many other family.
