Hud

Hud is a 1963 film which tells the story of a modern-day cowboy who conflicts with his father over the best way to keep their ranch from dying. It stars Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas, Patricia Neal, Brandon De Wilde[?] and Whit Bissell[?].

The movie was adapted by Harriet Frank Jr.[?] and Irving Ravetch[?] from the novel Horseman Pass By by Larry McMurtry[?]. It was directed by Martin Ritt[?].

It won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Melvyn Douglas), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Patricia Neal) and Best Cinematography, Black-and-White. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Paul Newman), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Black-and-White, Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
