Hahau-Whenua

In Polynesian mythology (specifically: Maori), Hahau-Whenua ("searching for land") is an archaic name for New Zealand. It usually refers to the period after Maui created the island, pulling it up from the bottom of the ocean, when the gods lived on it without humans.
