Graceland is the name of the large estate of Elvis Presley. It is located in Memphis, Tennessee. It is currently used as a museum.
On August 16, 1977 Elvis died there as a result of an overdose of mixed drugs and complications of severe heart disease. He was buried at Graceland and the estate has become a pilgrimage for Elvis fans across the world.
Graceland is also the name of a hugely successful 1986 album[?] by Paul Simon, which was recorded with a black South African choir. In the title song, "Graceland", a trip to Memphis is presented as a religious pilgrimage. |
