		Governor of New York
		The Governor of New York, the highest executive officer of the state, was originally chosen for a term of 2 years. In 1877 it was extended to 3 years, in 1895 reduced back to 2 years, and in 1938 it was extended to the current 4 year term. See also List of New York Governors
