Fourth Geneva Convention

The Fourth Geneva Convention relates to the protection of civilians during times of war and occupation by a foreign power.

It is frequently used as the legal basis for the claim that Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip constitute war crimes.

The convention was published on August 12, 1949, at the end of a conference held in Geneva from April 21 to August 12, 1949.
