The Church is a result of a merger between the Lutheran Church in America, the American Lutheran Church and the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches, one of which, the Lutheran Church in America, was the result of a merger between the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the United Lutheran Church in America.
