Candy corn

Candy corn is a confectionery. Each piece is approximately the size of a whole kernel of corn (that is, not just the exposed part), as if it fell off a ripe or dried ear of corn. The candy is tri-colored (yellow top, orange center, white point) and is made from sugar and corn syrup (probably with wax as well). In this form, it is most popular at Hallowe'en, but is usually available year-round.

There is a variant form, called Indian candy corn, in which the yellow is replaced with brown. This form is usually consumed during the Thanksgiving holiday season. In all other respects, including flavor, it is identical to the standard form.

Candy corn was introduced by the Herman Goelitz Candy Company. See jelly bean.
